A State of Trance Shares Phase One Lineup for First Event in Rotterdam

A State of Trance will soon call Rotterdam home. Armin van Buuren, MORTEN, John O’Callaghan, and others will help usher in the new era.

Come February 23-24, 2024, Armin van Buuren‘s A State of Trance (ASOT) brand’s flagship event will christen its new home of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Obviously, this calls for celebration. Organizers have announced the first handful of names on the now two-day event’s stacked lineup, covering a wide range of the dance music spectrum.

“Trance is a feeling,” as Armin once famously observed. It cannot be confined to a BPM range or style of sound design. The headliners shared thus far for ASOT’s Rotterdam debut reflect this open-minded approach to the genre. They hail from many different corners of dance music but all share the same philosophy.

Representing classic trance are DJs like Solarstone and John O’Callaghan, whereas Cosmic Gate and Amy Wiles are among those championing its more contemporary sounds. Even techno and house artists like MORTEN and Oliver Heldens (under his HI-LO alias) are slated to perform at the gathering.

Of course, no ASOT event would be complete without a DJ set by Armin van Buuren himself. The trance icon will play both nights, planning unique curations for each.

ASOT’s first-ever Rotterdam event will also include the debut of something called A State of Trance Hotel. The brand will partner with the Room Mate Bruno Hotel to deliver daytime activities throughout the weekend. The premium experience includes pre-parties, a gift bag, special entrance to the festival, and daytime activities at an additional cost.

A State of Trance started out as a radio show hosted by Armin and Ruben de Ronde (who also appears on the Rotterdam lineup) in 2001. Two years later, it had expanded to include a record label owned by Armada Music with releases by the likes of Sean Tyas, Markus Schulz, and Sunlounger.

During the EDM boom of the late aughts, ASOT began hosting an annual festival in Utrecht. In June of this year, organizers shared that they would relocate this flagship gathering to Rotterdam.

Purchase tickets to ASOT’s first Rotterdam event as well as hotel packages on the A State of Trance website.
