RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Hard Kombucha Line Launches in America

Mate Maker, RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Hard Kombucha beverage, has officially launched in America with its West Coast debut in San Diego.

While RÜFÜS DU SOL might be most renowned for their emotionally stirring music and jaw-dropping performances, the trio has also been hard at work to expand beyond those horizons. Not only have they begun to curate their own events, but they also took a step outside the music world last year with the release of Mate Maker, a hard kombucha beverage line.

Originally launched in their home country, Australia, RÜFÜS DU SOL made it clear that was just the beginning for Mate Maker as they planned to bring it to new regions of the globe. They’re making good on that desire with the news that the hard kombucha beverage will dig its roots in America with an official debut in San Diego this summer in partnership with Scout Distribution. Southern California is the perfect place for the launch of Mate Maker as not only is their Brewmaster, Josh Makler, a long-time resident of San Diego, but RÜFÜS DU SOL also made this region their home for many years.

We’ve been touring here as a group consistently for almost a decade now, and have been lucky enough to have been embraced by fans and to have been able to build a community around what we do here. The US is our second home because of the support of that community. We’re thrilled to be able to bring this company and everything it stands for to the states, where the idea for it was first hatched on a highway in California.

Danny Robson – Co-Founder of Mate Maker and Artist Manager, RÜFÜS DU SOL

Mate Maker hard kombucha is a gluten-free, vegan beverage with multiple 6% ABV flavors, including Mango Peach Smash and Blood Orange POG. The launch of the beverage in America comes with news of a third flavor added into the mix, Pineapple Sundream, which debuted during Sundream Baja earlier this year.

“Having a drink with friends at a gig or at the beach was a big part of our lives growing up,” says Jon George of RÜFÜS DU SOL. “As we’ve become more mindful about what we drink and how we operate on tour, we wanted to create Mate Maker to give people the chance to drink something they know is made from simple quality ingredients.”

Those looking to taste Mate Maker can currently do so at various bars and restaurants around San Diego and Laguna Beach, while six-packs will be available at select stores. Check out the locations where it’s available via their store finder, and stay tuned for more to be announced in the coming months.
