Rising speed house producer CHYL taps into her signature all-gas-no-brakes style to spin an exclusive mix for This Is Home.
China’s dance music scene is growing and flourishing with each passing day, between its growing number of music festivals and thriving underground electronic scene. Over the years, an increasing number of producers have popped up out of the country with loads of incredible talent to show off to the world, and one of these artists who has been showing tons of promise during her come-up in the scene is speed and bass house producer CHYL. Gaining traction for her high-horsepower speed house sound, the Chinese-Canadian producer’s expanding discography has the ability to rev up engines both on the dancefloor and off.
After previous releases like “Out Of Luck” and “Hooyah!” landed CHYL on renowned labels House Call and Dim Mak, respectively, the producer continues to deliver adrenaline-inducing tunes that would provide the perfect soundtrack to any NASCAR race. Her most recent single, “Fool Me,” finds her joining the Monstercat roster, and the track’s lively energy and gassed-up production makes the perfect fit for the imprint. Gorgeous vocals and an exhilarating build-up lead the way for a supersonic drop that packs in high energy and an even higher BPM while also sprinkling in layers of more melodic and airy sonic elements.
To ring in the release of “Fool Me,” CHYL put together a mix for us that features buoyant basslines accompanied by heapings of speed. Featuring her own originals and IDs as well as inclusions from fellow house artists like Habstrakt, HAUS OF PANDA, Valentino Khan, and more, there’s a massive amount of energy jam-packed into this mix that will have you coming back for more – if you can keep up. Check it out to get a taste of the dynamic sounds coming out of China and dive further into the fierce sounds of CHYL.
I grew up in China but the first time I really experienced electronic music and raves was in the United States. I’ve visited China many times since I graduated from college and was really impressed by how receptive the Chinese electronic market was to the “western” dance music and DJs.
Locally, I’ve also met so many incredibly talented music producers who are based in China, to name a few: R7CKY, M3ssiah, Z1, etc. Most of them are self-taught through watching YouTube tutorials — meeting them and hearing how they want to represent the new wave of Chinese EDM was really inspiring. I do wish to represent as a female, Chinese-Canadian music producer and hope to bring my own music and show production back to China soon. I also think it’s really important for Chinese nightclubs and promoters to keep discovering and supporting more local acts.
