Beatport has created a new home for the booming basslines, chopped-up samples, and shuffle-inducing sounds of Jackin’ House.
As one of the go-to homes for DJs around the world, Beatport continues to press on to help highlight artists across the dance music spectrum by providing easier access to specific styles. Recent additions have included the Mainstage page which showcases the sounds of Big Room, Electro House, Future House, Midtempo, and Speed House, while they’ve also expanded their offerings of bass and house as well. Now, the latest genre to receive its very own home is Jackin’ House.
Originally part of the Funky / Groove / Jackin’ House page, Beatport saw the need for the genre to be split off from the rest to give it greater visibility and celebrate the genre’s subculture. Around 12,000 tracks from the house, tech house, and funky house that exude the notion of modern funk meets old-school Chicago will be merged into the new page. This includes artists such as Demuir, DJ Sneak, and Mark Farina, along with labels including Relief, Robsoul Recordings, and GLA who have helped pioneer and further push the sound to the masses.
Speaking about the launch of the Jackin’ House page and the significance of the genre, Demuir said “I consider Jackin House one of the most innovative and leading-edge genres in electronic music that keeps things fresh and pushing boundaries constantly. I’m happy Beatport is acknowledging and supporting its significance.” And now it’s time for Jackin’ House to shine even brighter as it will receive its own featured spots and charts to help the genre thrive even more.
