Saint Velez Showcases the Sound of Brooklyn

Brooklyn-based DJ and producer Saint Velez spins up a mix teeming with techno heaters that will get you in a proper groove.

When it comes to the sound of house and techno, few local scenes do it quite as New York does. The city has embraced all that dance music offered up to the masses for decades with some of the most iconic raves, nightclubs, and festivals on the planet leading the way. While each area of NYC has its own thriving community within it, Brooklyn has stood tall among the rest as of late with some surreal experiences and artists rising through the ranks – and one of those artists is Saint Velez.

Over the past decade, Saint Velez has been honing his craft while drawing inspiration from the early days of the rave scene in the ’90s. This bubbled up in 2018 when he began to gain some speed with his debut EP, Velez 01:18, on De-Konstrukt Records, and he hasn’t looked back since. In the face of the pandemic last year he stayed on track, returning to the imprint to release LEO Chronicles while also remixing Jay Mosley’s “The Life” and finding a home on Back In Black with the Load Of My Mind EP as well.

The new year has brought forth even more tunes from Saint Velez. Back in February he toyed around with the sounds of jungle and breaks with the OFF BRAND EP, while he also delivered some tasty techno sounds on “After Coatcheck” and threw down house heat with “I Made A Mistake” which twists Flume’s “Never Be Like You” into an atmospheric floor-filler. Now, he’s looking to showcase his skills as a tastemaker with his mix for This Is Home.

In his exclusive mix, Saint Velez takes listeners on a ride through the subterranean world with tunes from artists like Floorplan, RSPX, Yan Cook, Frankyeffe, and Regent as the soundtrack for the journey. Filled with plenty of energy and diverse soundscapes to explore, he’s created quite a journey through music that will leave you wondering when you’ll get the chance to see him play live. So give it a spin and stay tuned for more from Saint Velez in the future!

True Brooklyn sets are not focused around the DJ playing. It’s not about the DJ, it’s about the party and the escapism it brings. At authentic Brooklyn events, you don’t even face the DJ. Although New York is full of diverse artists playing different music, this mix is really focused on not taking the listener or the party out of the moment. I want to bring a very immersive, high energy mix people look for at like 2am-3am.
