Dubstep legend and Circus Records staple Cookie Monsta has passed away at the age of 31.

One of the true pioneers of the dubstep scene, Cookie Monsta, passed away at the age of 31. The tragic news was released in a short statement by Circus Records just moments ago.

“Our beloved Tony Cook (aka Cookie Monsta) has left us,” the statement from Circus Records reads. “We are devastated, no words can contain our feelings on such a day. All our thoughts go to Tony’s family, friends and our heart especially goes out to Tony’s son Olly, the Mini Monsta. The world will miss you Cookie, we will miss you brother.”

At the time of publishing, details surrounding his death have not been disclosed.

First debuting on Circus Records back in 2010 with the release of Ginger Pubes / Blurgh!, Cookie Monsta was one of the artists who helped propel dubstep to greater heights throughout the past decade. The UK-based DJ and producer was known for his heavy bass sound that saw him play at some of the world’s premier festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Lost Lands, and Rampage. He will be sorely missed by many.

Our hearts go out to Tony Cook’s family, friends, and everyone else he inspired around the world. Cookie Monsta was an absolute legend in the scene and will never be forgotten, rest in peace.
