On Saturday, April 22, get ready for a night of trance with First State and JES at Avalon Hollywood!

First State officially blasted onto the electronic scene in 2005. Though the project has gone through multiple members, current member Sander van der Waal has stood tall through it all. In 2005, First State was comprised of Ralph Barendse and van der Waal and the duo dropped their debut track, “12.” The duo then followed up with their first studio album Time Frame in 2007. 2008 was a pivotal year for the group as their track, “Fallin” was selected for Tiesto’s In Search of Sunrise compilation. In 2010 Barendese left the project and van der Waal went on to release First State’s second studio album, which included a plethora of genres in addition to trance. In 2011, Shane Halcon joined the project and released one track with van der Waal before leaving in pursuit of a solo career. In 2014, van der Waal went on to release First State’s third studio album, Full Circle. Through the iterations and collaborations, First State has stayed true to his trance sound, even when experimenting with other styles. Van der Waal received much success as a solo artist and has torn up events, clubs, and festivals around the world such as A State of Trance, Ministry of Sound, Miami Winter Music Conference and more.

Jes Brieden, known in the music world as JES, is an American singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. A true creative, JES mainly focused on art until about 16 when she began honing her amazing vocal work. In 2001 she teamed up with Mike Olsen to form Guardians of the Earth. When Paul van Dyk remixed the duo’s track, “Star Children”, this opened a new avenue for JES to work more with DJs and electronic music. A few years later JES teamed up with legendary trance duo Gabriel and Dresden to form the illustrious, Motorcycle. Their timeless single,” As the Rush Comes” transcended genres and gained massive international appeal. 2006, saw JES riding solo and being signed to Black Hole Recording, one of the biggest trance labels. In 2007 she released Disconnect. This album went on to generate three Billboard top 20 hits including “Imagination” which reached #1 and stayed on the chart for 45 weeks. She has since collaborated with the likes of Tiesto, BT, Ferry Corsetn, and Armin van Buuren to name a few. In 2015 JES launched her own music label called Intonenation Records. The debut release “Hold On” went on to win her a third Grammy nomination.
