What was your first electronic music event?

A Dillon Francis show in Kansas City, Missouri on December 10, 2014.

What/who influenced you to attend your first event?

Thomas Williams, someone who I didn’t know very well at the time, took me to a Dillon Francis show in KCMO, followed by many others, including Griz, Above & Beyond, and, my first festival, Movement Detroit.

What is one moment from an event that was special and why?

Re:Creation KC was one of the most profound events I’ve been to. It was an event with many artists, including Shpongle, Alex and Allison Gray, and Jonathan Singers’ visuals. The combination of visuals, music, art and dance was astounding, as well as the background on visionary art and the psychedelic community. The Grays were up on stage, painting throughout the night, with additional artists down on the floor, also painting. The Grays spoke at one point throughout the night, about investing in art and, in turn, investing in the community and supporting the local economy. It was an incredible experience I’ll never forget. Third-eye-opening, you could say.

What is your favorite festival or event?

Dreamstate; it’s all about the music for me, and Trance is the music I crave. The production is incredible, and I enjoy the variety Insomniac provides within the Trance genre. They understand their audience. I have been to three Dreamstate events and can’t wait to go again!

What is your favorite electronic song and why?

I couldn’t name my favorite electronic song, but if I had to try, it would probably be “I Finally Found” by Leon Bolier. It’s an older progressive trance track from 2008, and it’s just perfection. It’s a low-energy song with just the right amount of lyrics by the sexy Peter Binkehorn. That is a good example of songs I love. Positive, inspiring progressive trance.

Who are your favorite artists?

Giusseppe Ottaviani, Orkidea, Liquid Soul, Simon O’Shine

What are your favorite genres?

Progressive Trance, it’s in-between house and hard trance. It’s light, not heavy in vocals and fast. It has a driving melody with lots of instruments and interesting sounds. It never tires; it’s a constant pulsing energy that doesn’t ever entirely stop or explode. I could literally listen / dance and never tire.

Some other favs are Uplifting / Vocal Trance, Psytrance and House.

What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?

I’d say I’m an electronic music enthusiast. I like learning about it, listening and dancing to it and talking about it with people. I’ve made countless buddies by going to events and would like to produce someday.

Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?

If anyone would like to collaborate, I have some ideas. Or, if you’re making tracks and you are looking for reviews, please send me your stuff. I’d love to listen and learn what other people are up to. It’s fun to connect with other music lovers!
