What was your first electronic music event?
Technically a renegade in the middle of nowhere in San Luis Obispo County. But my first one was a Paint Party in January 2014 thrown by Sensory Overload Empire.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
More and more people were telling me to go to the SOE events. I didn’t really know much about them except people dressed pretty freely and that it was a rave. Friends of mine said I needed to go to these local events and I would have the time of my life. Skipped my first chance and my now current boyfriend Stanton said I needed to go and wouldn’t let me miss the paint party. So I went and decided that my life belonged with raving and festivals.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
My boyfriend friend bought me VIP tickets to Sunset Massive in San Jose in August 2015, Excision was headlining. The security working there accidentally let us backstage to the side where you had to be an artist, working the massive, or on the guest list to be back there. They thought VIP was allowed everywhere at first. Bear Grillz was throwing his set at the time and I got to stand behind Bear Grillz from his perspective for a little bit. It was the first time I saw a huge crowd from that perspective. Especially standing there behind an artist who I love and listen to. It was exhilarating and seeing that many people in a crowd head banging made my night.
What is your favorite festival or event?
I mean I left my soul at Bass Pod, EDC Las Vegas but my favorite festival that I have been to is Symbiosis Gathering 2016. It was my first camping festival and I was super skeptical because I had never been to a festival like Symbiosis. Been to EDC Las Vegas and Escape but never anything like Symbiosis. It was an amazing weekend. Everyone I met was so nice and pleasant, the food was amazing, and Shiba San threw a set that all I wanted to do was dance. There is too much to list off about how amazing that festival was but the people I met left a huge mark in my life.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
Right now I would have to say my favorite is “Escape” by PatrickReza. The vocals on the song are extremely beautiful, everything about the song is blended together perfectly that I can flow to easily. I like a lot of songs right now but I always listen to that one since PatrickReza released it.
Who are your favorite artists?
Ghastly, Excision, PatrickReza, Illenium, Odesza, Virtual Riot, Snails, Jauz, Grabbitz, Datsik, Barely Alive, Zeds Dead if you made me narrow it down to a few. That was really tough to narrow down for a second. I love music so much.
What are your favorite genres?
Future House, Deep House, Tropical House, Drumstep, Dubstep, Melodic Dubstep. Those I would have to say are my favorite to listen to but I have such a wide variety of music that this was hard to narrow down too.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
Still trying to find my identity in the EDM world. I seem to find myself back with flow art like hooping or gloving. I love dancing and I absolutely love shuffling. I do help out when I am able to with helping Nick Abarca with the Sensory Overload Empire events. I found my place in the rave community with the SOE family, so being able to help make things possible for SOE when I can is something that makes me really happy.
