The internet’s broadcasting bastion of all things Trance and Progressive is once again bringing back its staple End Of Year Countdown!
Beloved internet radio station Afterhours.FM just dropped a doozy of a lineup for its signature year-end event, the End of Year Countdown (#EOYC2016). Beginning on next Monday, the 19th of December, Afterhours will be broadcasting non-stop sets from their extensive lineup of artists and a special selection of guests. The festival of Trance and Progressive wraps up their continued excellence in broadcasting and celebrates for a total of 14 days, ending on the 1st of January 2017. While there are some big names missing in this year’s EOYC celebration (ah.FM has an ever-changing lineup of talented DJs, but some do leave to expand their reach through other avenues as time goes on), you’ll find plenty to love during this event.

Afterhours.FM EOYC 2016 Lineup & Set Times:
Remember: All times are as of Central European Time (CET). CET is a +1 hour offset from the UTC (Coordinated Universal Time.)
If you are on the East coast, subtract 6 hours. This means that at midnight on the above schedule, it is 18:00 the day before local time. (Example Solid Stone on the 20th at midnight CET is at 18:00 Monday evening local time)
Pacific Coast folks – subtract 9 hours from the time above. Similar to above – at midnight on the schedule is 15:00 local time the day before. (Same example – Solid Stone on the 20th at midnight CET is at 15:00 Monday afternoon local time)
Please note, the commentary below reflects the schedule as shown on the art piece above.
See MyStro’s EOYC 2016 day-to-day descriptions below!
Monday the 19th – Kickoff
XiJaro & Pitch make for a great way to kick off the event as they do so again this year. Let’s get groovy.
Tuesday the 20th – Progressive warm-up to a chilly ending
Tuesday looks to set the stage well with Daniel Ercole, Mr. Pit, Wellenrausch, Gai Barone, Rex Mundi, and a slew of Coldharbour artists: Fisherman & Hawkins, Nifra, a 3-hour set from Markus Schulz, and a 2-hour set from Grube & Hovsepian.
Wednesday the 21st – Natives take on the airwaves
DJ Karl Kotik, Trancendence, DreamensioN, and more represent an early look into a number of DJs who make up the bulk of non-peak hour sets. There’s typically some gems in this grouping every year. It will get Tech-Trance as the day goes on with Imajin and Tempo Giusto, before tapping on the two-hour sets from C-Systems, Manuel Le Saux, Lange, and Andy Moor.
Thursday the 22nd – Owner & Friends
Site owner Dan takes to the decks on Thursday for a one-hour set, and growing talents Pulsar, Dirkie Coetzee, Jase Thirlwall, and Aurosonic lay down their contributions. Robbie van Doe drops a 3-hour set and Proxi & Alex-Pepper drop a 2-hour set.
Friday the 23rd – Quiet before the storm
DJ Anna Lee drops a two-hour set to open the day, and Somna hits early on too. Midday is filled with unknowns to my ears, but the end of the day is massive – Sunny Lax, Chris Connelly, Orkidea, Tom Fall, a massive 3 hour set from Mark Sherry (#TechTranceRevolution that one!) and a 2 hour set from RAM. Tears for that block mates!
Saturday the 24th – The blender strikes
Saturday represents a mixture of all sorts of Trance artists and styles – Paul Denton will likely bang it out, LTN brings his handbag of mystery along, Ciaran McAuley will bring an uplifting energy, Talla 2XLC will bring who knows what to close the year out, and the day wraps with solid producer/DJ Sied van Riel. DJ Johnny L, an AH.FM resident brings interesting mixes every year, and 2-hour sets from Config, Noonix, and Colonial One will surely give some breathing room to the day
Sunday the 25th – Christmas packages arrive
Resident April Eylse drops a package off for us to enjoy, as do andY and TrancArc. 2-hour sets from Madwave, Super8 & Tab, and Alex von ReVee grace this day… but watch the one hour gems intermixed from Myon (of the former Myon & Shane54 duo) and Stadium4 (aka Andy Moor & Lange). Those two are likely sleeper sets.
Monday the 26th – Resident’s help you unwind
After the madness of the holiday with family, unwind with a huge list of residents to the station. Don’t rest too much though as epic sets from Ally Brown, Audrey Gallagher, and Kyau and Albert pop in at 1-hour lengths, and Signum drops a 3-hour bombshell in the day’s fun. Simon Bostock closes with a 2-hour set.
Tuesday the 27th – The downhill descent begins
We’re getting closer to the new year and already a week in. Yes, Heatbeat, Ruben de Ronde, and Schweizer all close out with 2-hour sets, but I’m interested in the variety that comes beforehand – Bryan Summerville, Sonar Zone, TranceCoult, Tom Rogers, Feel, Davey Asprey, and Magdelayna all play too – and could bring something special to the table.
Wednesday the 28th – Home Stretch
Ost & Meyer, Hiddenagenda, Alex di Stefano, Adam Ellis, Mark Pledger, Indecent Noise, and TEKNO make for some very strong, energy driven mixes. Watch out for Indecent Noise’s 3-hour monster journey… it’s sure to be a good ride.
Thursday the 29th – Melting Pot Engaged!
Another day to enjoy – Alex Kunnari, Trance All-Stars, Steve Dekay, Artento Divini, Daniel Wanrooy, 2nd Phase, Ronski Speed, Project8 and Lazarus all clock in energy for their one-hour sets. Dave Nadz & LeBlanc and Victoria Da Silva provide the two-hour set duties, but I’m not sure what to expect from either of them.
Friday the 30th – Prelude to New Years Eve
Some powerful and euphoric sets warm up the New Year’s climb – including sets by Fabio XB, Dreamy, Venom One, Cold Rush, Ex-Driver, Maarten de Jong, Corti Organ, Woody van Eyden, and Maria Healy. Monoverse and Ronny K provide mid-day 2-hour segments. It’s sure to be varied throughout the day.
Saturday the 31st – No reason to go out
Sure – you could go out and party…but you could also stay and enjoy the celebrations with this class. Boom Jinx brings a progressive tip, Niko Zografos knocks out 2-hour slot, Daniel Kandi will bring us to his always lively sounds, and there’s plenty of new names to help celebrate the cool outro of this crazy year of 2016.
Sunday the 1st – 2017 tie-in
The end of the year has come… and so, fittingly we close out with 3 1-hour sets – Daniel Skyver, Dedo, and Ed Lynam. I only know Skyver’s sound, so it will be a nice easy way to jump into the new year.
Are you amped for #EOYC2016 over on Afterhours.FM? Who are you most excited for on the lineup?
Do you feel the EOYC lineup is missing people that it ought to have (For the author – I’m sad there is no Solarstone or Giuseppe Ottaviani this year)?
Comment below and let’s discuss!
