WDW Summer Raverday 2016 was a great way to kick off the Summer in Orlando!
With this year’s Walt Disney World Summer Raverday in the books, I have come to enjoy my time with these simple experiences. One of the best things about WDW Summer Raverday is getting to know my friends I have met through it and also having the ability to plan the meetups and activities. As the person heading the event this year I based the date off of my actual days off which are usually Sunday and Monday. I settled on May 22nd as Sunset Music Festival was the following weekend, and for anyone that knows anything about Disney, Sunday is usually always one of the less busy days.
We are a fairly new edition of the Raverday festivities, so turnout wasn’t necessarily going to be the highest. Only around eight people had shown up for the day, but it was other little things that made the day magical. This year I had decided to do something different from in the past. Since I am a cast member at the most magical place on Earth, I figured I would give something back to the cast members that make every day full of #unforgettablememories. I printed out several little pieces of paper and rolled them up into scrolls and handed them out to cast members.
Apart from the scrolls I went around collecting character autographs on a parasol of mine, and I also made perlers of each of the characters too. Once we got into the park, we went to our first character meet and greet. This one was awesome, as it was with Alice and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. They each loved their perlers and scrolls and once the encounter was done I handed each of the cast members one as well. Seeing each cast members face light up was such a rewarding experience!
As the day progressed we had amazing experiences, one of them was seeing my friends faces light up when we walked into Pirates of the Caribbean. So much to the point that one of the Pirates had given us voucher’s for dole whips. What a way to cool down to such a hot day.
The one thing that absolutely made my day was when the folks with the Move It, Shake It, Dance and Play It Dance Party acknowledged Raverday! As they were getting into place, the MC pointed us out and said how happy they were to see us! It was such an amazing feeling to know that we were recognized by the cast members. Overall it was a good day to hang out and get to know old friends I met last year at the very first raver day. A surprise encounter was meeting Joey Fatone towards the end of the night, he was pretty cool.
I definitely had fun this year and decided to talk to Vince regarding the next event coming up at the end of this year. Winter Raverday is always a blast but has to deal with the craziness of the holiday season so we both decided to do something different. Since cast member’s blackout dates are ridiculous during the holidays for Magic Kingdom (almost all of December is blocked out for our guest passes), we both decided to do this year’s Winter Raverday at another park. After all, when Walt created the Florida Project one thing he was adamant about was that Disney World would have the one thing Disneyland never had, the blessing of size and space.
So without further ado, I’m pleased and excited to announce that the Second Annual Winter Raverday will take place on December 3, 2016 at Epcot!
Seeing as Winter Raverday will be taking place at Epcot, I figure I’ll let you in on a few details about what is in store! Of course you have Future World and the World Showcase, however Holidays Around The World takes place during this time. This Summer we will be welcoming the new Soarin’ Around the World movie (starting June 17) and the new Frozen Ever After ride in the Norway Pavillion (starting June 16), both of which will be available to participate in this Winter. And of course, if you are 21+ alcohol will be available for you to consume, responsibly of course.
