What was your first electronic music event?

I Love This City 2012

What/who influenced you to attend your first event?

I had always wanted to go to a rave since high school, but my friends at the time judged ravers, said they were druggies, and were sluts for the way they dressed, so I held buying my EDC 2010 ticket. Fast forward to 2012, a college friend bought a ticket to I Love This City for my birthday and thanks to him, fell in love with the scene

What is one moment from an event that was special and why?

One especially memorable moment was at Tomorrowworld 2014. It was during Kaskade’s closing on the last day, we had just barely survived all 4 days (that includes the preparty) and were dead tired, but there was just something magical experiencing the mainstage come to life. While the intro for Kaskade was playing, I met a guy that had traveled all the way from Russia to experience Tomorrowworld and had a quick conversation about life. When Kaskade came on and opened with “Something Something Champs”, I told him that was my favorite song and he said to me, “You’ll never be happier than you were at this moment.” Even though I have been raving for a couple of years, nothing has really stuck out as much as that moment of pure happiness.

What is your favorite festival or event?

I’ve been to SO MANY events, but I would have to say Tomorrowworld 2015. Sure I got stuck in the mud, was barefoot half the time, was covered in rain 90% of the time, and got sick the second day, I had an amazing time! If anything, it made my group stronger together because we were all suffering together and they helped me get through the rough patches.

What is your favorite electronic song and why?

“Pay No Mind” – Madeon because it’s fun! It sounds like a song that would be playing if I were walking down the street on a TV show :)

Who are your favorite artists?

Laidback Luke, Madeon, Seven Lions, Above & Beyond, and Kaskade

What are your favorite genres?

All forms of trance and electro house

What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?

Lately, I feel like my “identity” would be named ‘dudezomgsteph’. Almost at every event now I am approached asking if I’m “dudezomgsteph” from Instagram with all of my costume, kandi, and iHeartRaves blog posts. I’m an anthropology major and I LOVE studying different cultures, so it’s only natural that I would absolutely love everything about rave culture! Most of my blog posts are about rave culture and supporting our community with a dose of fashion features as well.

Is there anything else you’d like to add for our readers?

I’ve got nothing but love for this community and everything it stands for. I don’t care if I may seem overdressed or if I wear too much kandi to an event, all you have to do is accept me and move on. The rave community is all about peace, love, unity, and respect and I’m all about that
